2022 PRCA VETERINARIAN OF THE YEAR
Dr. Hannah Looman
DVM
Hannah grew up in Durango, Colorado on her family’s quarter horse ranch. She has always had a love for horses and science. She participated in 4H and FFA where she showed horses and pigs and competed in state science fairs. She attended the University of Wyoming for undergraduate school where she competed on the UW ranch horse team and was a member of Sigma Alpha professional agricultural sorority. She then completed veterinary school at Colorado State University, graduating in 2023. She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the Society for Theriogenology. She has a strong interest in equine reproduction and equine sports medicine. She also likes surgery and volunteering for spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her border collie, Bliss and riding cow horses.
Dr. Hannah Looman is a familiar face already to many of our clients and we are thrilled to have her.
Fun fact: her identical twin sister, Jessica Looman, also works at Timber Creek and is currently working towards her PhD in Reproduction at Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo.
Dr. Jessica (Looman) Cook, PhD
Jessica grew up in Durango, Colorado, where she developed a lifelong passion for horses, particularly in showing cow horses. She attended West Texas A&M University, where she was a member of a national champion horse judging team and competed on the ranch horse team. Jessica began working at Timber Creek Veterinary Hospital in the fall of 2018 as an intern, sparking her deep interest in equine reproduction.
She remained at West Texas A&M to complete her Master’s degree, conducting research at the clinic on a drug combination aimed at stimulating anestrous mares to cycle. Jessica went on to earn her PhD from the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, where her research focused on reproductive challenges in both cows and horses. She graduated in 2025.
Jessica specializes in oocyte recovery and in vitro fertilization, mare cyclicity and endocrinology, and embryo production. Her work combines practical experience with advanced reproductive science to help improve fertility outcomes.
